Survival rate:
- Most oral cancers are diagnosed in their later stages. Cancer has already spread to other areas of the body in at least 50% of the cases.
- When oral cancer is detected in its later stages, the 5 year survival rate is approximately 50%
- When oral cancer is detected in its early stage, the 5 year survival rate is 80% or higher
- Unfortunately, only 36% of all oral cancers are currently detected in their early stages
